In today's technological world, the graphite pencil is still a simple and popular tool for writing, drawing and painting. Its construction is really simple: a pencil is a graphite rod in a wooden shell. The hardness of the pencil depends on the ratio of graphite to clay in the nib. In the office, at home, at school and at university, pencils labelled HB, or medium hardness, are usually used. Types of graphite pencils
